Water:Backpack − an environmental education kit for the young and the young at heart

The Water:Backpack is a toolkit for the playful exploration of aquatic habitats. It contains a landing net, a tumbler with a magnifying glass and cups in which one can gently hold and observe animals and plants as well as information material to help identify aquatic organisms and practical instructions for educational outdoor games and research assignments.

The Water:Backpack enables children to actively explore and experience nature together with others. Thus, they can enjoy nature and at the same time learn about the flora and fauna of aquatic and wetland ecosystem and their needs.

The Water:Backpack was first presented in autumn 2012 at an international practice seminar for Naturefriends and Austrian Federal Forests participants. Further trainings are offered by Naturefriends International on request. Educational hikes using the Water:Backpack are offered at Water:Trails campaigns and can be booked exclusively with Naturefriends or the Austrian Federal Forests.
